Abstract

Irregular immigration has become a significant challenge for many countries today, including both sending and receiving nations. Morocco, in particular, suffers from this issue as it serves as a transit country for migrants from Africa to Europe. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of irregular immigration and the policies that Morocco has adopted to address it. Specifically, the study seeks to answer the question: “What are the primary policies implemented by Morocco to tackle the issue of irregular immigration?” Through the use of public policy analysis theory and descriptive analytical methodology, the study attempts to evaluate Morocco's policies, analyze their effectiveness, and identify any discrepancies between policy goals and actual implementation. The study found that Morocco has made a significant effort in addressing this issue by creating a legal and institutional framework, developing a new strategy to address irregular immigration, and collaborating with African and European countries to reduce the number of irregular migrants. Despite these achievements, Morocco still needs to continue its efforts to further reduce the number of irregular immigrants.
