This study seeks to examine how the Israeli right-wing Likud Party was able to implement a law package that limits the powers of the Supreme Constitutional Court despite facing strong opposition. The package of laws restructures the judicial authority and allows the legislative authority to review the court's decisions and change the method of selecting its members, despite significant opposition. To answer this question, the study adopted a pragmatic approach and analyzed the discourses of political, academic, and popular forces that presented arguments and evidence in support of or against the draft law. The study concluded that the Likud Party's success in passing the draft law was due to its alliances with far-right forces, who -in support of the package of laws- formulated arguments revolving around security, political, and religious exigencies to ensure the survival and protection of the Jewish state. The study relied on qualitative research methods and analyzed 40 speeches by politicians from different party affiliations, Israeli public opinion leaders, and academics regarding the Likud Party draft law from its proposal in February 2023 until its adoption.
