Climate Change in Arab Countries: Impacts and Policies

Abstract

This study seeks to comprehend and analyze the detrimental impacts of climate change on the Arab countries, and the policies adopted by the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates to confront these impacts, through the use of the comparative method and public policy analysis theory. The analysis compares and evaluates these policies and explains their success and failure points. So, the main focus of the study is on the impact of climate change on the Arab countries, the analysis of these changes, the policies adopted by the three countries to confront these changes, the evaluation of these policies, and the prediction of the future of climate change. The paper presents recommendations to the decision-makers. Finally, the study concludes that the policies the three countries have adopted are very successful, and recommends making more effort towards furthering their partnership and joint cooperation.
